First let me start off saying that I miss y’all already! It’s been great so far, albeit not easy, but overall a great experience! My Make (pronounced Ma-Gay meaning host mom) is very sweet. She has two sons, my bhuti Sanzidso and Sihle. My Swazi name is Silindzile which means we’ve been waiting for a girl. My little bhuti Sanzidso gave me that name. The babe passed a couple of years ago.
We have a pig, chickens and goats on our homestead. My Make sells chickens. We don’t have any sinks…I’m bucket bathing and basin washing the dishes. We use a pit latrine (outhouse) and I pee in a bucket at night. All of this is definitely taking some getting used to but I’m adapting well. I do have electricity which some volunteers don’t so that’s a blessing.
I can truly say that I am learning a lot and gaining a new appreciation for the life that I have. I am excited to take you along this journey with me. I have so much to share so until next time, enjoy these photos of the beautiful Kingdom of eSwatini.
